The 12th ODC International forum for young marine scientists focusing on Progress Sharing in Ocean Dynamics and Modeling was successfully held in the morning of 18 May 2026. We had 3 young scholars sharing their research progress, and totally 15 young marine scientists participating the forum.

Dr. KYAW Than Oo, as the first speaker from Myanmar, shared the topic about Recent Advances in Methodologies of Artificial Intelligence in Ocean Dynamics and Modeling. In response to the problems of high computational cost and limited parameterization in traditional GCM models, Dr. Kyaw discussed the potential and challenges of various AI methods in marine science.

Mr. Aminu Dalhatu Datti, the second speaker from Nigeria, shared the report about Interdecadal Changes in the Beaufort Sea Ice-Tropical North Atlantic SST Link: Implications for Ocean-Atmosphere Dynamics. Based on observational data, Mr. Aminu analyzed the interdecadal variations in the relationship between Arctic sea ice and sea surface temperature in the tropical North Atlantic  .

Ms. Tahrim Jannat Mowsumi from Bangladesh gave us a speech, whose topic is Advancing Ocean Modeling in the Bay of Bengal: Validation of High-Resolution Ocean Reanalyses and Future Perspectives. The simulation capability of the upper ocean stratification in the Bay of Bengal was evaluated by comparing multiple high-resolution reanalysis data.

The ODC center will continue to provide the platform for young marine scientists to have in-depth communication and effective discussion on their perspectives and research progress on marine science development through the organization of various Forum activities. For the events that will follow, the ODC center will make full preparations in terms of the optimization of network platform, selection of topics and exhibition of outcomes, trying to offer an audio-visual banquet for young researchers in the field of ocean and climate.
